The Camarillo Eagles Soccer Club was formed back in 1978. The original founders of the team, Lee White, Russ Pinto, Jim Freeland, and Ed Eysenring all got their start in A.Y.S.O. but were interested in expanding the competition arena to a higher level.

The first teams performed very well including El Camino Real Champions in 1978 & 80. In 1979, the Eagles 1 expanded by adding Eagles 2 and 3. By 1980 there were at 5 Eagle teams.

The original Eagle 1 nucleus played into high school together where they won the CIF State Southern Section in 1983.

Girls History

In 1980, Kristi White was the first female to play for the Camarillo Eagles Youth Soccer Club. She played on the Eagles III, Under 12 boy’s team.   The next year the club added two girl’s teams, Ken Eastman’s Under 19 team and Coach Hope Trevino’s Under 14 team. Kristi played on Hope’s team.  Kristi played on both the Eagles club team and on the CYSA-South Select Team for the next four years.  As an adult she was on the Western Regional Women’s Soccer Team and the Southern California Women’s State Select Team.

The first Eagles III Boy’s team was coached by Mike Burgess. The players were Kristi White, John Neeson, Marvin Schmidt, Jeff Stahl, Scott Wallen, Steve Oliver, Mike Carroll, Keith Chicasawa, David Johnson, David Goertzen, Mike Zerkel, Jim Spencer, Jeff Burgess, Brian Burleson, Mike Freeland, Brian Radney, and Brooks Benson. They won the El C amino Real League with 8 wins out of 13 games that year.

The first Eagles VI team was coached by Hope Trevino in 1980 and manager Nancy White. The roster included Alicia Garrett, Jeri Grossnicklaus, Tracy Tackett, Becky Eggleston, Diana Alfino, Denise Lane, Kristi White,  Jennifer Brooks, Christine Velasquez, Devon Gross, Lori Johnson, Cori Garcia, Deborah Griffith, Heidi Leal and Traci Bustard.

In 1981, Eagles VI Team was coached by Al Leal and manager Nancy White. The same players as the 1980 girl’s team. Erica Dobson was added to the team.

In, 1984-85, Eagles VI was coached by Lee White. Players were, Devon Gross, Jeri Grossnicklaus, Daphne McCarley, Kristen Ritzi, Marian Scholle, Lori Johnson, Jennifer Brooks, Gabrielle Balsano, Kristi White, Debbie Slaminski, Jennifer Krock, Tricia McCarthy, Kari Taketa, and Joyce Gianera.

Kristi received a 4 year scholarship to CSU Dominguez Hills for the Women’s Soccer Team where she was All-Time Assist Leader and All-Time Leading Season Goal Scorer through 1990. She then had the honor of being named a ’89 First Team NCAA Div. II All American.  She was also chosen for the ‘89 First Team NCAA Div. II All West Team and ’89 NCAA Div. II National Championship All-Tournament Team.

In 1990, Kristi’s first year coaching was at Golden West College and she was named    “COACH OF THE YEAR” in the Range Empire Conference. From 1991 to 1993, she was the Women’s Head Assistant coach at CSU Dominguez Hills. In 1994 she came back to Camarillo and became the trainer for five of the Camarillo Eagles girl’s teams. In 1991 she was also involved with Athletes in Action where she traveled to Germany and Czechoslovakia as a soccer player. Then Kristi became the women’s assistant soccer coach for Biola University in 1995. She also coached summer soccer camps and was the women’s soccer coach for the Missionary Athletes International (MAI) Women’s soccer team in 1995 and 1996.

Ken Eastman was the coach of the first Eagles girls U-19 team from 1980-83. Ken later started (and coached for nine years) the Camarillo High girls varsity team, which included many of the Eagles players.
